Background

Rob Stufflebeam received his B.A. from George Mason University, then his A.M. and Ph.D. from the Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology (PNP) Program at Washington University in St. Louis.

His main areas of research are Philosophy of Mind, Cognitive Science, Philosophy of Science (especially neuroscience), and Logic.

He has authored numerous articles exploring the fundamental concepts of representation and computation and their relation to computational systems and the brain. Through grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF-CCLI #0127561) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH-SEP #1R25RR020425-01A1), he has created a great deal of content for online instruction in cognitive science for The Mind Project. Chief among his content is Introduction to neurons, synapses, action potentials, and neurotransmission, which on Google ranks #2 out of 25.7 million results for 'neurons'. As a Flash developer, he has created dozens of animations of neuropsychological processes, illusions, and psychological experiments to support several textbooks in psychology, biopsychology, and neuroscience.

Besides being head of the Philosophy program, he is the iTunes U Site Manager for UNO. He is also the program's webmaster.
