About the Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering
Mission
The mission of our College is to provide excellent, affordable undergraduate and graduate engineering education, which meets the needs of the metropolitan community we serve, as well as the larger national and international community. The college is committed to providing high quality education and research opportunities for students and faculty through partnerships with government, industry and academia.
Vision Statement
The College will be a consistently recognized leader in engineering education in the State and the Gulf Coast region through excellent teaching and research.
Faculty
Our Faculty are dedicated to the education of the students. Virtually all courses are taught by full-time faculty or practicing engineers. The result of this dedication can be seen in practical programs which provide a strong theoretical base and a strong design component that runs throughout the curricula.
Academics at a Glance
The College is composed of three departments and a school: Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and the Boysie Bollinger School of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. We offer bachelor of science degrees in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, and Urban Construction Management. Students earning a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering may also pursue a concentration in computer engineering. The College offers the following degrees at the graduate level: Master of Science in Engineering (with concentrations in Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering) a Master of Science in Engineering Management, and Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Sciences. The Ph.D. is a joint program between the Colleges of Engineering and Sciences.
Funding
The 91直播 Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering receives funding from federal, state, and private sources. Undergraduate, master's, and doctoral level graduate students are encouraged to seek opportunities for research and learning through our Faculty.
Industry Support
The College is assisted by an Industry Advisory Council consisting of industry executives who are either engineers or have an interest in the engineering profession. The Council undertakes activities designed to help the Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering achieve the level of excellence expected of a major metropolitan institution of higher learning. This unique collaboration between faculty and industry is united under the common goal to strengthen the Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering.
