Suggested Attire for Recruitment Day
Many potential new members wonder what they should wear during Recruitment. The most important thing to know about what to wear is that you shouldn't stress out about it too much. The sorority members aren't going to judge you based on your clothes. But you do want to make sure that you are comfortable and that you won't stand out as looking much too casual or much too dressed up.
Below are pictures of Sorority Recruitment Counselor modeling outfits that are appropriate for each round of Recruitment. These will give you an idea of how people will be dressed. Keep in mind that everything you need is probably already in your closet.
Sisterhood Round: Casual
For Open House events, casual attire is appropriate. You will receive a white Recruitment t-shirt, and jeans, shorts, and casual skirts are all appropriate to wear with it.
Philanthropy Round: Casual
Attire for the Philanthropy Round is casual. You should wear something comfortable, as some of the sororities will be doing craft projects. Most people will wear casual pants, jeans, or a casual skirt.
Preference Round: Dressy
The Preference Round is the dressiest night of Recruitment. Most people will wear dresses, skirts, or nice pants. Prom dresses are not appropriate.
Bid Day: Casual
Bid Day is very casual. You will receive a t-shirt from your new sorority, so wear something lightweight that you can put a shirt over. We will be outside, so shorts or jeans and comfortable shoes are a must.
Formal Pledging Ceremony: White Dress
Most of the sororities will conduct their first formal ceremony with their new members either on Bid Day or the next day. The new members wear white dresses for these ceremonies.
