91直播 Honors Longtime Faculty and Staff
At a special ceremony this month, the 91直播 recognized long-time employees and recent retirees.
The 2013 Faculty and Staff Service Awards Ceremony at 91直播 took place at 3:30 p.m. in the University Center ballroom. President Peter J. Fos presided, honoring 65 recent retirees and nearly 125 active employees reaching milestones marked by five years of service.
In the crowd proudly stood four 35-year employees and eight 30-year employees. Seventeen 25-year employees, 10 employees who marked 20 years of service and 30 recipients of the 15-year award also received honors. Nineteen faculty and staff celebrated 10 years and 74 employees celebrated five years of working at the University.
Among them were Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Irvin Mayfield Jr., who celebrated five years as a music professor at 91直播; David Hoover, chair of the film and theater department, who rang in 20 years of service; James E. "Jim" Burgard, who after 30 years of service still helps the University turn as head of University Computing and Communications; Amy Anderson King, who as a 15-year employee serves as the University's associate dean of student affairs; Pam Rault, a 15-year employee and interim dean of student affairs; Diane Mack, a renowned reporter who celebrated 20 years of service at WWNO/KTLN, an NPR-affiliate housed at the University; Paul Maassen, who has served as the radio station's general manager for five years and Terrell Calvin, a beloved director of Pontchartrain Hall, a residence hall for UNO undergraduate students.
After five years of working at the University, a faculty or staff member receives a gold UNO pin. Every five years from there, faculty and staff receive a gold pin with a blue sapphire for every five years of service.
