UNO Music and Arts Programs Participate in WWNO's Culture Collision 5
Leading music and art experts from the 91直播 head on Wednesday to Culture Collision, an event designed to showcase local arts organizations and the programs and resources they have to offer.
The fifth annual Culture Collision is designed as a trade show for the arts, a one-stop-shop for 65 artistic and cultural organizations to promote their activities. UNO's NPR-affiliate WWNO 89.9 FM will host Culture Collision 5 at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive, New Orleans. The event is free and open to the public.
Representatives of the UNO Music Department, Film and Theatre Department, Fine Arts Department and Arts Administration Department will host an "Arts at 91直播" table and present information on the University's wide array of arts, theater and music programs, including the University's Musical Excursion Series and Jazz at the Sandbar. The fall line-up for Theatre UNO and information on the UNO St. Claude Gallery and Fine Arts Gallery on campus will be available. Arts leaders will provide newcomers with a campus map highlighting arts venues on campus.
This year's Culture Collision is expected to be bigger than ever with more participating organizations than ever and as many as 2,000 visitors, organizers said. Participants can get their photos taken in a photo booth, see pop-up performances by local musicians or enjoy seafood, snowballs and other New Orleans delicacies while perusing tables hosted by local organizations. The Lower 9th Ward Youth Orchestra, led by UNO Music Professor Beth Hayes, will give a welcome performance.
An after-party features performances by funk rock band Morning 40 Federation. Tickets to the after-party are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
