WWL-TV morning news anchor and 91Ö±²„ alumna Sheba Turk will be a featured speaker on campus for āPrivateer Sendoff for Success: Career Panel Discussionā scheduled for Oct. 23.
The Office of Career Services event will cover various aspects of life after graduation, including discussions on maintaining networks and preparing for the next career move.
Turk, former host of the entertainment show, āThe 504ā and author of the book, āOff Air: My Journey to the Anchor Desk,ā will discuss her experiences, obstacles and successes encountered on her chosen career path. Turk will host a 30-minute question and answer session following the panel discussion.
The panel discussion is scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Innsbruck Room located on the second floor of the University Center.
Turk, who graduated from the University with a bachelorās degree in 2011, joined WWL-TV as an associate producer for the morning news shortly after her graduation. She will have copies of her book available for purchase. A limited number of signed copies will be given away to students.
The event is designed to prepare graduating studentsāseniors, masters and PhD candidatesāfor their transition into post-graduation life. Students are asked to register for the event by accessing myapps.uno.edu, using their UNO credentials and selecting the Handshake icon.
