Theatre UNO closes out the fall semester with the production “Is God Is” at the Robert E. Nims Theatre in the Performing Arts Center located on campus. The dark comedy, directed by second-year MFA student R’Myni Watson, opens Nov. 9 and runs through Nov. 19.
The play explores a modern myth about twin sisters who sojourn from the “Dirty South” to the California desert to exact righteous revenge against their father. Winner of the 2016 Relentless Award, playwright Aleshea Harris collides the ancient, the modern, the tragic, the spaghetti western, Afropunk and hip-hop in this darkly funny and unapologetic play.
A percentage of all ticket sales will be donated to the effort to rebuild the lives of a 91ֱ student and their family who lost their home to a fire in September. In addition, a percentage of all ticket sales also will be donated to the effort to support the Victim Allies Project and Peace Clinics of this organization.
Silence Is Violence is a campaign for peace in New Orleans and provides services and resources to families experiencing trauma due to violence.
General admission for all shows is $15 per person. UNO alumni and seniors can see performances for $10 per person. UNO faculty, staff and students with a valid I.D. will be admitted for free.
Preview performances are $5 and will occur on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10. These performances are subject to stop and start at the discretion of the director.
