History of Us
In 2017, the Environmental & Sustainability Council was formed by President John Nicklow. The following year, the UNO Sustainability Circle was founded by students, faculty, and staff. In both cases, our university collectively recognized the need for more action on campus and volunteered our time to oversee new initiatives.
In the fall of 2021, UNO received a $34,000 grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to create an urban bird habitat on campus. Thanks to this funding, the PIs on the grant were able to host a restoration and cleanup event for the Fine Arts Woodlot, an overgrown area where UNO will plant native trees and shrubs to attract more birds to our campus. The bird habitat will be paired with a walking trail for all the birders in our community to enjoy watching our avian neighbors while getting a bit of light exercise.
The Sustainability at 91直播 website went live in early 2022!
In July 2022, the Sustainability Circle established Keep 91直播 Beautiful, a university affiliate of Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
