Types of Projects
Upward Bound projects provide academic instruction to 9th-12th grade students in mathematics, laboratory sciences, composition, literature, foreign languages and STEM. Tutoring, mentoring, cultural enrichment, work-study programs, education or counseling services designed to improve the financial and economic literacy of students are additional services that are provided.
Expert instructors provide one-to-one and virtual instruction to engage students with a state-of-the-art on-line curriculum giving them the opportunity to work hard in a targeted manner that will positively impact their grades and test scores. Students are highly involved with fun projects and activity-based learning. Courses offered are:
- Writing Enrichment – includes grammar, creative writing, critical reading, composition, & literature
- High School Math Enrichment – includes Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus
- Laboratory Science – Biology, Chemistry, Physics
- Foreign Language – Spanish, French
- Social Studies – History, World Geography
- STEM Courses -- building your own computer, launching your own drone, programming a Sphero Bolt
Upward Bound programs also provide services and activities that are specially designed for students who are limited English proficient, students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education, students who are homeless children and youths, students who are in foster care or are aging out of the foster care system or other disconnected students.
