How to Apply: Performance

UNO Graduate School Online Application

All graduate applicants must first complete the UNO Graduate School online application. Please follow the instruction to successfully complete the application.

MFA Theatre Performance (Acting)

• Statement of Purpose--indicate your area(s) of interest
• Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
• A headshot and resume
• Auditions are mandatory; please email the Graduate Coordinator for Theatre to make arrangements

The deadline for Theatre is March 15th; please see the Graduate School degree programs page. We prefer on-line accessible auditions (your personal website, YouTube, Vimeo, or any easily accessible link). For audition instructions email the Graduate Coordinator of Theatre. An in-person audition may be arranged for the Saturday before the March 15th deadline. Once we have reviewed your audition materials, virtual interviews (Zoom) will be set up if on-campus interviews are not possible.  On-campus auditions include an interview, tour of facilities, and private discussions with current MFA students.

MFA Theatre Performance (Directing)

• Representative reviews
• On-line accessible samples of your work (your personal website, YouTube, Vimeo, or any easily accessible link)
• Statement of Purpose--indicate your area(s) of interest
• Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
• A headshot and resume
• An Interview is mandatory; please email the Graduate Coordinator to make arrangements

Applicants are responsible for contacting the Graduate Coordinator for Theatre to schedule an on-campus interview or to make alternate arrangements. On-campus interviews include a tour of facilities and private discussions with current MFA students.

Graduate Assistantship Opportunities

Theatre UNO has a limited number of Graduate Assistantships and Awards. All applicants are automatically considered for the available Theatre Department Graduate Assistant positions, as well as the available Academic Scholarships (undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher). We have no access to GA-ships in other departments. Please contact Career Services and Student Financial Aid to seek other funding opportunities.
