LAN Account Information
All UNO students, faculty, and staff have access to various multi-user computer systems on campus. Student accounts are automatically created or activated with registration. Similarly, accounts for faculty and staff are automatically created when IT receives the appropriate information from Human Resources Management.
Students
All students who register and pay their fees on time are automatically assigned accounts for:
- Local Area Network (LAN)
- Canvas
- Workday
- MS Teams
- myapps.uno.edu
Find your LAN username and password
The LAN account can be obtained by contacting the Help Desk. Please be prepared to verify your identity for security purposes.
Faculty/Staff
UNO Faculty and Staff receive the following default set of accounts:
- Local Area Network (LAN)
- Canvas
- UNO SharePoint
- Workday
- myapps.uno.edu
- MS Teams
Note
Individuals who are under contract to work with a specific department or unit and who are otherwise not affiliated with UNO are not automatically issued computer accounts because their employment information is not entered by Human Resource Management. All appropriate accounts must be explicitly requested by the supervisor.
Username Examples
Your username will be a maximum of eight characters in length and will consist of the first character from your first name, perhaps followed by your middle initial, followed by your last name, and in some cases, a numeric suffix to differentiate between similar names. All usernames have a maximum of eight characters.

Departmental Contacts for Workday Security Requests
Employees requiring security to the UNO Financials, the HR/Payroll, or Workday systems must have their supervisor contact the person responsible for granting security in the area in which access is needed and follow that department's procedure for gaining access to its data. To request PeopleSoft security, contact the appropriate person from the following list:

Generic Accounts
A generic account is used for an event or a class in which non-UNO participants need to access the UNO-domain, but not to the UNO mail system. To request a Generic Account, complete the following . When submitted, an email will be sent to HelpDesk@uno.edu. Access to the request form requires your assigned LAN username and password.
